It’s actually happening!

2009/07/07 · Leave a Comment

For some reason I feel the need to make such posts. For about the previous 20 years I wouldn’t have needed to do it. Oh well. Anyway, I am working on a new painting now. Actually doing it. Being a visual artist once again! Yaay.

That’s all. Just acknowledging the fact that Robert Terrell Artist is back!

I’m back!

2009/06/28 · Leave a Comment

I started work on a new artwork this morning. Not a lot has been done, yet. But a lot has been done, really. Because I had a lot of “mental” issues to get out of the way, to get myself to this place of actually starting work again. I am not going into any of that.

So, I have a wooden panel cut out, at this point. And I have primer ready. I wasn’t even sure if I had any, but I have enough for quite a few of these panels.

I am comfortable with the size and shape of these panels. Small and long. Been wanting to go this way for a while.

So, I’ll be priming the panel later today, and probably painting it tomorrow. I could start today, but that would require gathering up things that aren’t quite all together now, and I don’t feel like getting stressed out about it. I have too much baggage of decades. I’ll just keep it on the down low, and get a little done here and there, and before you know it, I have a really good feeling about things.

There will likely be a few of these panels painted. Since I really do like to work with a “series” and not just a piece at a time, like I did many years ago.

Exciting a little bit…

Chuck Close DVD

2009/06/15 · Leave a Comment

I just watched a DVD – “Chuck Close: A Portrait in Progress” Got it on Netflix. It was made in 1997, so it’s been a while, but I really enjoyed it a lot. I love his work, and the paintings he has created since his health “event” have been even more amazing and wonderful still!

I highly recommend this DVD. Chuck’s artistic vision and method are discussed, as well as his “close call” recovery from the paralytic blood clot in his spine. Philip Glass provides the soundtrack.

Give this a look. I am glad I did.

Welcome to m o n d o a b s t r a c t o !

Hello fellow artists and art lovers. This is my third attempt, or so, to get my art blog going. Why is that? I don’t know. Actually, I do. I was using a blog name that I really liked. Unfortunately, so was a punk band in California. They didn’t seem to have a problem with me sharing it, but I did. I checked out the domain name – it was taken.

I went another direction, with another name, and that was working better for me, but I really needed to split my poetry and art into niche blogs. It’s important for me to keep some modicum of organization with two things in my life. Somethings three.

So, I think third time charm, hopefully. Or fourth. Anyway, I am going to keep this blog limited to art related posting. If I get on a blogroll, well, that’s fine by me!

And if poetry is your cup of tea (as they say in the land of cliches’) well please drop over to my poetry blog: Existential Pause But don’t look for anything here but my art posts and images.
